On Friday 24 October, Queensland Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Tim Nicholls, State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan, and members of the Caboolture community gathered to celebrate the official opening of the Wellspring Women and Girls’ Health Hub in Caboolture.
In partnership with Queensland Health, Micah Projects and alongside community partners, True Relationships, Respect Inc, and Women’s Health and Equity, the Hub brings together community expertise to provide holistic, trauma-informed care for women and girls facing complex health and social challenges.
Thank you to Aunty Kathy Fisher for your Welcome to Country on the land in which we meet, the Kabi Kabi people, and to the Moore Family for your voice and sharing some of your experiences.

A responsive, inclusive model of care
The Wellspring Women and Girls' Health Hub prioritises communities who face significant barriers to care and poorer long-term health outcomes, particularly First Nations women and girls, those experiencing homelessness, and those affected by domestic and family violence.
In just the first half of this year, the Hub has already supported hundreds of women and girls. Among them:
- 49% were experiencing homelessness
- 40% had experienced domestic and family violence
- 36% identified as First Nations
- 11% were in contact with the justice system
Micah Projects CEO Karyn Walsh said the response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive.
“Our work in Caboolture already tells us there is a need for the Women and Girls' Health Hub to complement existing services. The community has been incredibly responsive and embraced this new initiative at Caboolture. We look forward to continuing our work with the Queensland Government, our partners and in the community. Together we can appropriately respond to the needs of women and girls.”
A shared commitment to healing and equity
The Wellspring Hub offers accessible, culturally safe, gender and trauma-informed care, ensuring women and girls can receive support without barriers or judgment. Services are designed to meet people where they are, with walk-in access and a focus on dignity, safety, and long-term wellbeing. Services offered at the Hub include:
- Child and family health
- General medical care and minor injury treatment
- Health screenings, immunisations, and preventative care
- Maternal, sexual, and reproductive health
- Gynaecological services
- Preconception and pregnancy care
- Support for chronic pain
- Assistance navigating the healthcare system
- Support for women experiencing domestic or sexual violence
- Support for women experiencing homelessness or at risk.
The Hub also runs outreach programs and works closely with local hospitals and community organisations across Moreton Bay and Brisbane.
The Hub is a continuation of our work supporting women, girls and families in Moreton Bay and Caboolture.
Micah Projects is grateful to the Queensland Government for its funding and support, and to our community partners True Relationships, Respect Inc. and Women’s Health and Equity for their ongoing collaboration.
